EFT Collections
Electronic Funds Transfer debit orders for recurring collections. Used for subscriptions, loan repayments, and insurance premiums. Governed by PASA scheme rules.
Core Collection MethodDebiCheck
SARB-mandated authenticated debit order system. The account holder confirms the mandate via their bank before any collection can be initiated. Mandatory for all new debit orders.
SARB MandatoryRM — Registered Mandate
Digitised debit order mandate registered with the collecting bank. Replaces paper-based mandates and reduces disputes by creating a verifiable mandate record.
Mandate ManagementRMS — Registered Mandate Services
Outsourced mandate management services — including mandate registration, storage, tracking, and dispute resolution — for businesses that don't manage mandates in-house.
Outsourced ServiceAccount Tracking
Tracks changes to a debtor's bank account details (account number, branch, account type) to prevent failed collections when clients change banks or accounts.
Collections IntegrityHow EFT Collections Work in South Africa
Mandate authorisation
The debtor authorises a mandate — via DebiCheck authentication on their banking app, USSD, or ATM — confirming the collection amount, date, and frequency.
Mandate registration
The mandate is registered as an RM (Registered Mandate) in the banking system. RMS providers can manage this on your behalf if you handle large volumes.
Collection submission
On the collection date, the business submits EFT debit instructions to PayInc (BankservAfrica) via their bank or payment service provider within PASA cut-off times.
Clearing & settlement
PayInc (BankservAfrica) clears the instructions. Funds settle into the business's account within 1–2 business days. Account Tracking prevents failures from changed account details.
